Transnet takes its PAIA responsibilities seriously.

We’re transparent and align to Section 32 of the Constitution which guarantees you the right of access to information held by the State and other persons of the institutions.

You will be able to indicate the specific business unit whose records you will request to access on the form itself.

Significance of PAIA

We believe access to information is important.

The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA) provides the framework and procedures for the exercise of the constitutional right to information as swiftly, inexpensively and effortlessly as is reasonably possible.

PAIA definition of a record

PAIA applies to a record(s) regardless when it came into existence.

PAIA applies to all recorded information regardless of form or medium, whether in the possession or under the control of Transnet and its business units (PAIA Chapter1: Definitions and Interpretation).

Voluntary disclosure of certain categories of Transnet records. Certain categories of public records of Transnet are available automatically without a person having to request in terms of PAIA. The only fee payable will be a prescribed fee for reproduction.

Request Procedure for Transnet Record(s) that include its Business Units: All requests to access a record(s) of Transnet and its business units must be made on the prescribed form which may be downloaded.
